When marbles whizz down roller coasters, snowmen stand in detailed winter landscapes and little figures splash around in a mini swimming pool, it's that time of year again: phaenoBRICKS returns to the phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg.
From 27 February to 1 March 2026, the LEGO® fan group "Steineland" and phaeno invite you to an exhibition full of imagination, technology and creativity.
This year's focus is on an extraordinary GBC (Great Ball Contraption) – a fascinating playground for rolling balls, composed of 383 modules with their own themes and ideas. It is 95 metres long in total. "With this exhibition, we want to show how large projects can be created together," explains Dr Oliver Starke, organiser of the exhibition and member of the fan group.
Visitors can not only marvel at the exhibits, but also get involved themselves. In the building corner, numerous colourful bricks invite visitors to join in the fun, and a large mosaic made of 40,000 bricks is being created with the help of the guests. Members of the fan group are on hand to chat, offer tips and explanations, and keep the models moving. Visitors can also try out exciting LEGO® board games.
In addition to the ball track, other impressive community buildings await guests: a detailed LEGO® winter landscape with a ski slope and Christmas market, a lively city with a suspension railway, cafés and street life, and a micro city complex with an airport and mini swimming pool. The exhibition is complemented by kinetic figures by Teun de Wijs from Amsterdam. His automatons amaze and amuse visitors. A functional scanning probe microscope made of LEGO® bricks from the Technical University of Braunschweig, which scans surfaces with a thin tip and outputs them as a 3D map, is also on display at phaeno.
All entries to the "Schräger Raum" competition are also on display in the middle of the exhibition. Participants were invited to design creative replicas of the Schräger Raum at phaeno.
"With phaenoBRICKS, we want to not only amaze visitors, but also inspire them to get creative themselves," emphasises Davy Champion, curator of phaeno.
Admission to phaenoBRICKS is included in the day ticket.
