Exhibition Power2Change: Mission Energy Transition.

26/09/2023 until 04/02/2024

How can we implement the energy transition together? The exhibition "Power2Change: Mission Energiewende", which was jointly developed by partners from research, the museum sector and science communication, is dedicated to this question and can be seen at the phaeno in Wolfsburg from 26 September.

The joint project Science Communication Energy Transition is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Will lorries, ships or planes soon be fuelling with hydrogen or e-fuels? How can green electricity be produced flexibly? What will the electricity motorways of the future look like? Will our socks be knitted from CO2 in the future? Visitors go on "Mission Energy Transition" in the special exhibition. They use exhibits and media stations to form an opinion, learn about challenges, solutions and research projects, make decisions and experience their effects.

The exhibition shows various ways in which industry, business and transport can become climate-neutral. Four central thematic areas show how a climate-neutral supply of energy and raw materials can work without fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal.

What does this have to do with everyday life?

The energy transition affects, for example, the production of textiles, fertiliser or reinforced concrete and also the power line behind the house.

Energy transition type check

An important element of the exhibition is to form your own opinion. Visitors receive a chip card in the entrance area. They can use this chip card to think about and vote on the following questions, for example: Will I change my consumer behaviour, will I rely on energy imports or the expansion of renewable energies? You choose the answer that suits you best. At the end of the tour, the type of energy transition you are is analysed. A film shows the consequences of this.

Full of energy!

Visitors will find energy-packed hands-on stations from phaeno right next to the exhibition. As a team, you can drive a radio using only muscle power or create a glowing arc of sparks with approx. 40,000 volts.

The special exhibition is accompanied by an extensive programme for school classes and teachers. An energy mobile will also be touring the region. Other events round off the programme.

Programmes for schools

To accompany the special exhibition, phaeno offers guided tours, workshops and discovery tours for school classes from Year 8 upwards. Teachers can choose from an advanced training programme on the topics of ESD, climate change and energy. A special highlight for teachers is the social evening with a good climate and full of energy planned for the special exhibition on 2 November 2023.

Energy mobile tours the region

The "Power2Change: Energymobile" is on tour in the region until mid-October 2023. Curious visitors can drop by in Wolfenbüttel, Schöningen, Helmstedt, Peine, Salzgitter and Braunschweig!

Further events

Visitors can take part in a pub quiz or a science watch party in the region or meet researchers in the middle of the exhibition at phaeno. In a series of lectures, scientists bring interested parties up to date with the latest research.

Joint science communication project on the energy transition.

In the exhibition "Power2Change: Mission Energiewende", visitors go on a "Mission Energiewende" and learn more about the path to a climate-neutral future. The exhibition was developed jointly by partners from research, the museum sector and science communication as part of the joint project "Science Communication Energy Transition". The joint project is coordinated by DECHEMA e. V . and Fraunhofer UMSICHT. The exhibition was developed by the LWLIndustriemuseum, Westfälisches Landesmuseum für Industriekultur and the Klimahaus® Bremerhaven. Wissenschaft im Dialog is responsible for the supporting programme, the tour of the travelling exhibition and project communication. The Kopernikus projects together with DECHEMA e.V., the joint project Carbon2Chem® together with Fraunhofer UMSICHT, the Fraunhofer Cluster CINES and other partners are contributing the content from energy research for the exhibition and supporting programme. The conception of the exhibition and its reception are supported by the Technical University of Ilmenau in terms of communication science. The joint project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
